The Next Chapter of Public House Marin

A message to our community

After a great deal of thought, we have made the decision not to reopen Public House Marin
on September 8 as originally planned.

This is not an easy announcement to make, because Public House has become so much more than a business to us. Over the past year, we have poured an enormous amount of heart, creativity, energy and financial resources into creating a place that is welcoming, warm and genuinely connected to the Fairfax community.

What makes us especially proud is everything it took to get here. We spent nearly a year building Public House before we ever opened our doors in September 2025 - from the physical build-out and design to the vision, planning, licensing, menu and nutrition, operations, staffing and hospitality.

Neither of us came into this with a background in the hospitality business. We learned as we went, figured things out, solved a thousand little problems, and put our hearts into every part of it.

That’s what makes Public House so meaningful to us. It was never just a business project - it is a true heart project and something we created because we believe in our community and want to give Fairfax a place to gather, connect, eat well and feel welcome.

Looking Ahead

We believe strongly in Public House, and we are looking for someone who wants to get the opportunity to be responsible for the day-to-day operation/run Public House long-term.

We would like to find the right person/or team to take it forward.

An Opportunity for an Operator

We are looking for an entrepreneurial operator who wants to take responsibility for running the business, not simply a restaurant manager.

The right person would have the passion, experience and financial commitment to oversee the day-to-day operation of Public House, make business decisions, lead a team, manage costs and revenue, and ultimately take responsibility for the financial performance of the operation - a true equity partner.

We believe this could be an exciting opportunity for someone who has dreamed of simply owning or operating a hospitality business, wants to build upon an existing concept, or has a vision of their own that they would like to bring to life in a community that is already here.

We aren't looking for someone to simply step in and manage what we've built. We're looking for someone who wants to take the reins and make it their own.

We are open to discussing different possibilities with the right individual or team, including a transition of the business or other mutually agreed arrangements. Any transaction or transition involving the business or premises would, of course, be subject to applicable agreements and required approvals.

If you are an experienced hospitality operator, entrepreneur, or team who believes Public House could be the right opportunity for you, we would love to hear from you.

Please contact David at david@publichousemarin.com.

We would be happy to share more about the business, what we have created, and the possibilities we see for its future.

To Our Community

We know this news may come as a surprise, particularly to those who were looking forward to seeing Public House reopen as planned.

Fairfax has been incredibly welcoming to us, and we are excited to see Public House to continue to be a place where people gather, eat, connect and feel at home.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of the Public House story so far.

We are incredibly proud of what we've built together.

With gratitude,

David & Pia
